Semiarundinaria fastuosa, commonly known as Chinese Mountain Bamboo or Upright Bamboo, is an elegant, clumping bamboo species native to East Asia, particularly found in China and Japan. This bamboo is highly valued for its tall, upright growth habit, dense foliage, and refined appearance, making it a popular choice for ornamental gardens and landscapes. Semiarundinaria fastuosa typically grows to heights of 3 to 9 meters, with culms that range from 1 to 4 cm in diameter, giving it a striking presence in any landscape.

The culms of Semiarundinaria fastuosa are slender, straight, and densely packed, initially green and gradually turning a yellowish-brown as they mature. The stems are often covered with a fine powder or bloom during the early stages of growth, adding to the bamboo’s unique texture and appeal. These culms are highly valued for their graceful form, making them an excellent choice for decorative purposes. The plant forms dense, upright clumps, which can create a lush, tropical atmosphere in gardens or public spaces.
